My cousin works in the sporting goods dept of my local Walmart and he informed me of the 2nd markdown and put them aside for me.

The advantage of having my cousin on "the inside" is....he can "make them go away" in the backroom waaaaaaay back on the top shelf until the final markdown is approved, then call me, then bring them out to the register upon my arriving.

He gets caught doing that he will be terminated. No D-Day, no 2nd chance. It is considered the same as stealing by the company. And you will surprised how good the cameras are -yes they are in the overstock areas also, particularly by the ammo and Electronics lockups.

That's what I was thinking...
I know WM will clearance things out below cost, but that is probably 20% of Cost.
Sounds more like a "special" :evil:markdown to me, which would get you canned a lot faster...I wouldn't shout my "savings" too loud.
I am not accusing anyone of stealing, it just sounds too good to be true...

I'm not an employee of Walmart, and do not claim to know their policies.
I too have questioned him about any possible risks of termination, and he says not to worry about it. It's his ass not mine, and he knows it.

As far as I know, I'm not breaking any laws buyibg the stuff at marked down prices, and don't feel one bit guilty about getting a good deal now and then.

In the case of this particular ammo, it was something that got shipped but was not ordered, not even something he stocks. It didn't sell....and he needed the space on the shelf for something else, so off to the backroom it went.

He's lucky the GM Assistant or Store Mgr. hasn't noticed it in the printouts, something like that sticks out like a sore thumb. The correct procedure for such an item would to send it back, or store to store to someplace that does carry it.

And yes, if it can be proved you knew about it, (i. e. , this very thread is proof) Wal-Mart could prosecute you, too. They did so to the reciepents of merchandise stolen by a Loss Prevention associate in our area a while back.

UMC is on par with Winchester white box and Federal red box, at least in my experience. Wal-Mart "managers" sometimes put incorrect price tags on various items, not just ammo; I've found some great "deals" along these lines.
