10 GA to 12 GA ?

There shouldn’t be that much difference. I don't shoot 10 gauge, cause there are 3 1/2" 12 gauge shells that can just about match the velocity and load. But once again, these are not for me but for a gift.

Ok so I’m disappointed! :fire:I tired to call there 800 number but its past there office hours by about an hour. I left a message that I would like an RMA. First off there is no way that these little pieces of what look like rolled sheet metal are worth 50 bucks. There not even a complete cylinder! Which you cannot tell from there site. Then they charge me $20 to ship me something that weight not more and a few ounces. :cuss:I wish I had listened to some of you guys! Out of frustration I’m just going to go get him a darn 12 gauge!:banghead:

they're not rolled sheet metal but are machined from bar stock. While you may or may not think they are worth the price, they are cheaper than new barrels or a new gun. There are tube sets that are very expensive and will work, but for the price of one of those sets, you can get a 12 gauge, used MEC reloader, components and be good to go

I use a set of the split gauge mate 10 to 12 inserts. They work great, dont need to come out between shots if you use good ammo like AA's or STS hulls. It does screw up the hulls as they end up with a line on the plastic where the split was, I have reloaded them anyway and they are ok for 1 more reload. They pattern great. My 10 is an old NID 3 1/2" double. Loading throw away 12s is way easier and cheaper than loading 10's. I do load both 10 & 12 but MEC doesnt make a progressive 10 press. I wish they did, I would buy a 10 guage grabber in 2 7/8" ASAP.

I trim 3 1/2" hulls Federal or Remington. I use a cut off wheel on my drill press and just slide them by. I like short 10's for duck hunting and an occaisional round of fun trap or skeet.
I dont think short (2 7/8") hulls will work in an auto or pump. They work great in a side by side.

Hmm, well, that's an idea I suppose. I shoot a H&R single shot, would work in that I guess. I'm sure wanting a BPS 10, though, and if I got one, I'd like to try ducks with it without being pelted so hard. But, I guess I can always just add 20 gauge felt wads in the cup. :D I really got the 10 as a goose hunting specialist, but if I got a BPS in 10, I'd wanna use it for more. I love those things. :D

short 10's are easy to make, you dont even really need a press, just roll crimp. Roll crimped shells look cool and you can write your shot info on the card top wad.

OK, So I gave them to him anyway. Along with several boxes of 3 1/2 turkey loads in excess of 2 oz. And imagine that they work awesome! He went out to get more 12 ga shells. So I guess not big deal. I asked him if he would like the gold line later on down the road and he said no need that he was happy with these. And it not that hard to get the spent shells out of them. Just push them out with your finger. Actually a very good product.
