Im trying to get a value on a Winchester Model 12 16 Gauge
The gun was manufactured in 1954 and is in 99% condition
widow said her husband shot it a few times and put it in his gun safe and just didnt shoot it. There is no box.
She wants to sell it and I would love to be the new owner.
What would be a good offer ? I know there were more 12 ga. than the 16 ga.
any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I also know condition is everything and this one is nice. No dents dings or scratches anywhere.

Off the top of my head, around here, factoring in what the books say it's worth, I'd pay $75 or $100 more than the same gun in 12 ga., maybe $600 or $700. I might pay more if I really liked it; less if I would have to have the choke opened.

The big question is, what is the choke and what do you want to shoot with it? Most of them are Full, so anything more open is worth more to a bird hunter.

A Lot of Variables.

The 16 ga. will bring a little more than a 12 ga. in the same condition. My old book quotes $750 for a standard model 12 at 98% and this book is 2 or 3 years old. Then you need to factor in any extras like factory vented rib or solid rib, factory Cutts Compensator or subtract for aftermarket choke. It can get pretty serious.

I will have to agree with Ohio. $600 would be a bargain if it is really clean.
