10 Million Glocks Sold

It has been said that Gaston Glock has sold over 10 million Glocks. That is an epic achievement for a privately held company. I just wonder of those 10 million how many were sold more than once? IMHO Gaston has made his mark in the gun world history!

You may want to examine the data available from your link, and think about what it means.

You're obviously basing your 22 year number on the 5 million sold in 2007. That means that you're starting in 1985.

You'll notice that they had sold 2 million in 1999.

So 1985 to 1999 = 2 million in 14 years.

1999 to 2007 = 3 million in 8 years, total of 5 million.

It's been 7 years since that 5 million mark, with record setting sales throughout the gun industry every year. Obama passed up Clinton as the top gun salesman long ago.

5 million additional Glocks in the last 7 years of record setting gun sales is hardly preposterous. They were shipping over 130,000 per month (30K from the US, 100K from Austria) in January of 2013. That's about 3.1 million in 2013 - 2014. It's actually hard to image them NOT doing an additional 1.9 million in the 5 years from 2008 - 2013.

Now I don't think they are counting used gun sales, I just said add the number of used gun sales to the ten million new already sold that's all.

Here is a little perspective on Glock’s sales figures.

During the decades that Glock was selling those 5 million or whatever amount of pistols the World population figures are:

1985 approximately 4.8 Billion
2014 approximately 7.0 Billion

During the approximate first two decades Fabrique Nationale began selling Browning designed pistols the World populations figures are:

1900 approximately 1.7 Billion
1920 approximately 2.0 Billion

FN delivered their first Browning designed pistols in January 1899. On January 31, 1914 FN commemorated the production of 1 million FN Browning pistols by giving John Moses Browning a gold inlayed M1906 6.35/25acp pistol. In considerably less time from the standpoint of the ratio of population to sales FN’s sales make Glock’s look far less impressive.
