I was just given a set of 10 mm dies, I don't have a 10 mm but I do have a 40, will the 10 work for loading 40. the dies just say "10 mm". and I've seen some that will say "10 mm/ 40 cal"

The sizer die will work for sure.

The deprimer / expander die should.

The seater die may be too long for the .40 S&W to be able to taper crimp them.

Only way to know for sure is to try it.

If you have the ability & equipment, you can grind .142" off the bottom of the 10mm seating die, and it will be a .40 S&W seating die.

thanks, I'm gponna try, IF I can find some 40 cal bullets around here somewhere

it won't crimp, I finally tried it, all works well except the case is .142" on the short side to get any kind of a crimp

You can buy a separate crimping die and use the rest of the die set. Look for used dies on the various auction sites or post a "wanted" ad in the Buy, Sell & Trade section of this forum.

Hope this helps.

I'll have to try it again then, I couldn't get a crimp, but I was in a hurry when I tried it

I have to stand corrected. I did have to buy a crmp die to use with my 10mm Dillon dies. The Dillon crimp die would not work on the 40 S&W cases. Sorry guys.

yep I tried again last night, and put a little extra bell on to start with, No crimp , it didn't even try to start a crimp. I'm on the lookout for a crimping die now

My RCBS .40S&W/10mm dies load both. I setup for .40S&W then use ~.142" spaces/shims for 10mm.
