I think I would be tempted to try the new Ruger AR-556 MPR. It's Ruger's take on a SPR type AR that came out recently.

It has some nice features like heavier 8 twist hammer forged barrel, all Magpul furniture and a M-Lok free-float rail. It also comes with Ruger's Elite 452 upgraded trigger, which seems to get good reviews.

MSRP is $899, but street price seems to be up to $300 less at some places.... Seems like it would be really hard to beat for the features and money.

These comments are great. I’ve been out of commission lately.

Yes, this has been more an exploratory thing for me. I really know very little. This Sat we were plinking with an M&P a friend has. Eventually we stuck a very large gong out to 202 yards and had no problem hitting it with irons. Trust me, that wasn’t saying much. But it did give me an idea of an inexpensive gun. My thought was that I wanted to be coyote worthy out to 300 and smaller holes for smaller varmints at 100 or less (hence my original post). You guys seem to think that very possible...so, now I just need to get this job and make it there before another idiot does something stupid, or gets set up for having done something stupid...but alas!,!

Again, thanks!
Greg
