I've driven from Seattle to Dallas 3 weeks ago and stopped in Boise and Salt Lake City area and Colorado / Kansas.

The WalMart near Boise and Ogden had WWB 100rd pack of 9mm for $23.99.

So the Russian Brass Maxx stuff is only $1 cheaper....

Never shot and never will fire steel cased ammo through my pistols and Colt AR. Period.

I have a bunch of both the 9mm

and the 223 Brass Maxx. I honestly can't remember if I have shot any of it. I have at least a thousand of each. I also have a couple hundred rounds each of the 40 and 45. I would, and do, pay the extra dollar or two for Federal or Winchester 9mm when it is available but it really hasn't been very available lately. The brass is absolutely reloadable and to answer the specific question it is Boxer primed.

I do and I'll continue to do so.
The myth of "steel case is bad" has been proven wrong time and time again.:banghead:

It is more than simple myth.

The cheap Russian steel case ammo is inferior. The jackets are typically bi-metal or copper washed steel, which wears out rifling more quickly than copper. It can also cause sparks/more sparks when striking objects or certain backstops, which is some ranges, including outdoor ranges in fire prone areas, don't allow it.

It is also often just that...cheap. Lower quality. Less consistent. Dirtier. Etc.

Now, don't get me wrong, I've put a bunch of steel case through my Glocks (Tulammo, Brown Bear, Wolf, etc) and will continue to do so.

I also have a few hundred rounds of steel case .223 (TulAmmo) that I am testing in one of my AR's (so far so good with something like 200 rounds). But it is inferior to the good stuff.

Here is some good reading, if you are so inclined. I highly recommend reading the whole thing. And, when you get to their 'conclusion', do keep in mind that they complete ignore the value of the spent brass cases. An economically minded person will probably recover much of their brass and either reload it or sell it.

No, its not.
The MYTH is that a steel CASE will somehow damage your firearm..........and thats simply not true.

You are talking about the BULLET in that LuckyGunner article, not the case.

Fear of steel cases is based on ignornce, not fact.

I didn't see anybody in this thread say that steel case ammo would damage your firearm.

I am talking about the entire cartridge.

Virtually all steel case ammo has that bullet type, so it is relevant to this.

BrassMaxx 9mm

I purchased a can of .9mm, 100rds Brass Maxx from Waltmart. I had two miss fires in the first clip! I took my glock apart and noticed that some of the ammo would not fit into the barrel. Some dropped in nice and easy, others stuck out about 1/8 of an inch. I had thirty rounds out of the hundred that does not sit in the barrel as it should. This was causing the jams. No more Tul-Ammo for me.

Wish I could find some. I love the cheap stuff.

I saw a 150rd box of AE 223s at my wal mart last trip. Had never seen it packaged so. (67$ I believe)

Maybe it's a good thing that we're seeing different pack sizes now, i know i didnt see much variety during the manic panic.

A local WalMart had quite a few of those 1200 rnd 9mm ZQI $497 ammo cans....
Guy at the counter said they haven't sold ANY!

Yesterday, the local WM has some rifle and shotgun ammo, some .40cal but that's it! And this is not the first time. I have not seen 9mm in quite some time. I wonder why so much .40 in comparison to the other calibers? Went to Dick's and man if the same thing wasn't happening, minus the rifle cartridges. I have been reading here, as many of you have, about the talk re: many police and federal LE folks going back to the nine, could this be a contributing factor?

Just went to the WM and sure enough....tons of .40, some .380, 45ACP, 45LC, and .223, lots of shotgun loadings as well. No 9mm, 38sp, .357, .22, .25 or
.32s. The manager said "we get orders in everyday and you have to be an early bird"...believable. Oh, they did have one of the large ammo cases of 9mm for 500 bucks but I passed, don't have the money and have no idea of the quality. Looks like I'll have to get that worm tomorrow. :)

I'll be taking out the Christmas SW SD9VE to Atterbury Range in IN and run it through its paces. If anyone if heading that way, feel free to join me. Probably the most well maintained, well policed semi-outdoor range in the state. Entrance fees are minimal, $7 for an hour, I do believe...and they do usually have a good stock of slightly overpriced practice ammo and the premium stuff as well, in most calibers.

No wonder, yesterday I ordered 1k rounds of brass cased 9mm FMJ for $247 delivered.

My local Walmart recently put a cabinet in front of the ammo cabinet so now you need binoculars to see what they have in-stock. Which sucks since price-shopping with the guy behind the counter who is convinced that .380 is a suitable alternative to .38 Special and is highly skeptical that I really can use either .223 or 556 in my AR gets tiresome.
