I want to fill in the gaps with my pistol calibers. I am in the market for a 10mm

I do not want a glock. I have been looking online and see lots of choices but not sure what I'm looking for exactly. I am leftie and would like ambi-safety if possible.

I saw an article from shot show stating sig coming out with 10mm.
Rock island, colt, kimber, s/w? What are you guys shooting in 10mm?

Have you tried the Glock 20 Gen 4?

Sig is coming out with a P220 in 10mm as you state.

How about a used S&W 1006? (ambi - heavy and nice, becoming slightly rare)

EAA Witness 10mm?

Then there are the 1911 variants.

Or a 10mm AR pistol, but that might be a bit much.

EAA Witness, S&W 1006 (discontinued), Colt Delta Elite. Just some options. I have a 1006, AMT Javelina and a S&W 610 revolver personally and love them all.

1006 is ambi. All of the S&W 10mm guns are fantastic if you can find a used one. If I didn't want a Glock then I would either wait for the Sig or find a Smith.

I have had a Glock 20SF, S&W 1076 and a RIA 1911 10mm. My favorite by far was the 1911. The Glock has a huge grip and didn't fit me well and the 1076 was heavy with an awkward decock lever. The RIA was about $600 and ran perfect with full power hand loads after I put in a heavier recoil spring. The RIA also comes factory with an ambi safety.

I'm a southpaw and shoot 10mm. Not a lot of choices. You got some 1911's like colt delta, kimber, Dan wesson, ati, ria....might be a couple more. Some of those come with ambi. Then the witnesses...which I'm not a fan of myself. They also aren't ambi...I think? They may make a model that is...not sure. Then the glocks. You know the drill on glocks and safeties.

Older out of production pricey stuff like the s&ws, bren ten, etc....and they are great but not worth the collector prices they sell at now imho. At least not for a shooter rather than adding to a collection.

I hear the sig is coming...and based on the very limited choices if I was going to add a new production 10mm....I'd go this route. I'm not a fan of 10mm in 1911 setups. So the sig should be the best choice out there in metal frame. Other than that I'll stick with my glock 20sf.

Sure love to see a cz, m&p s&w, steyr etc or any other proper maker add one, but I guess the market isn't there yet....might never be there....but I keep hoping for more choices........

EAA Witness Hunter:

Big beefy massive pistol which makes the 10mm manageable. Long barrel and long sight radius.

Not ambidextrous though.

Colt Delta Elite
DW Titan
Wilson Combat
Nighthawk Hunter
Glock 20 Gen4

I have #1 and #4 on the list.

^the only problem I precieve with Delta is its inability to fire hot loads. Underwood states on it website not to use its ammo in Delta due to lack of supported chamber.

First off, what is your budget?

If not an issue, STI is making a nice one right now. For how long, who knows?

RIA makes several models in 10mm, both full size and commander, that are affordable.
The Colt is alright, but the sights are terrible. I shoot a custom Fusion though.

I think 1k Max budget for this one. It looks like I may have to buy my first ever glock. :)

Shouldn't have too much trouble finding a nice 1006 under a grand. I don't think anyone would argue that it is the stoutest of the 10mm autos, save for the behemoth LAR grizzly.

I've had both the RIA 1911 10mm & the EAA Witness. I had the witness model that came with a scalloped slide, & couldn't handle normal 10mm loads. my slide cracked, & EAA replaced it with a heavier version. It was the softest shooting 10mm I've ever tried.
The RIA seemed nice, but I had reliability issues i couldn't fix, even after 3 trips back to the factory. I will say that their customer service is stellar.
I think what I am finally going to settle on for 10mm is a Witness Elite Stock 1. has the heavier slide, & slicked up trigger. can be had for around $850. You can get an ambi safety for about $95 from EAA...
or the witness match... which is a SAO like a 1911, but with 14+1 mags. sweet shooting guns.

The S&W 1006 and its variants have the ambi safety you're asking for. I have the 1076 that does not have a safety, so those are another option.

I just love to say that the 10mm is on a nice comeback. More offerings in firearms and it seems like both sides of the corny claims have calmed down (huge recoil vs. nuclear). The 10mm is just a nice warm round, it's always best when people don't make it into something it isn't.

OP let us know on your choice.

I'm building a NFA legal, Tax Stamped, 10mm SBR. The parts so far are at the $1000 mark. Of course the Trust cost some dough and then the $200 and so on. Ugg. :)

I think DW nailed it with this 10mm Silverback

Tanfoglio/EAA Witness Elite Match. My favorite pistol. I use it with downloaded rounds for USPSA and have many, many thousands of rounds through it.
