Reciently I have been looking over the Glock 20 in 10mm and thinking it would be a great handgun for a multi job role like hunting, heavy clothing CCW and open carry woods defense. I was wondering what would make a good companion to the glock 20 so that with an aditional 22lr revolver you would have a rather well rounded out trio of handguns for taking care of most handgun duties.

Well, the natural choice would be a Glock 29, which would use the same ammo (and, if necessary, the same magazines) as the G20, yet be more CCW-friendly.

The G29 is quite a little handful of thunder, and is very nearly in a class of one when it comes to handguns (compact double-stack 10mm Autos are pretty thin on the ground outside the Glock catalog...)

I have a Glock 29. Tamara is right, it IS a nice little handful of thunder. The compact size makes great for CCW or for taking in the woods on hikes or hunts. The 10mm is a great cartridge. I would recommend a 29 for a companion ot your 20, but I actually traded my 20 to get my 29.

I'll second what the other posters said regarding the G29 as a natural companion to its larger 10mm sibling.

Plus, you can get aftermarket "drop-in" barrels in .357Sig and .40S&W for either the G20 or G29. They're made to fit the Glock 10mms, with nothing additional needed other than a 10-second barrel-swap and the ammo to shoot these other calibers.

This gives you 3-guns-in-1 versatility in whichever size 10mm pistol you prefer. :)

wow. sounds fairly unanamous. I hadn't thought of it because of the thickness factor. i've never actually handled one but i had assumed it was a little too wide in the middle to hide. does anyone have any problems hiding the 29 on themselves. also what kind of performance, power and accuracy wise could I expect from the 20's little brother.

When I'm up hunting in the mountains, I carry my G29 where I always do - tucked into my belt at the small of my back - with a Ruger convertible Single-Six with .22 Magnums in it on my hip. Works great for me.

I've found that the G29 is much more easier to control on follow up shots with at Pearce grip extension. Doesn't effect the concealablity, but gives a nice place for the "rest of your hand" to go. I've got large hands and long fingers, so it helps me quite a bit. I've shot the G29 extensively at the range, and now I'm looking into buying one as well. For me, the 29 is actually more enjoyable than the 20.

Im not a huge glock fan but I shot my frist 29 today. It wasnt as bad as i was lead to believe. it shot very easily. Im not huge on the trigger or the sights but was thourghly impressed with its power to size ratio. Hard to beat it....given there arent many 10mm pistols around that small
