So I got what looked like a mint in the box 11-87 12g. When i load it up with 2 3/4 inch slugs (all i have on hand) and cycle the bolt it just looks back, no round pops out of the magazine.

It does get hung up on the load gate, i know this because if i push it down it pops out and is able to be chambered by the bolt. And when i push it up a round slams into my finger with force.

Anyone familiar with this? Is it something i can take care of or do i need some one more experienced to work on the 11-87 12 ga.

Thanks in advance for anyone with a word of advice.

Are you riding the charging handle home? Pull back and lit it slam.

Otherwise I would disassemble and make sure its put together right. Check magazine spring.

I Always rack it to the rear and release the bolt letting it slam into battery on its own.

I'm familiar with my 870 but not this new 11-87, guess I'll look at some diagrams and strip her down a bit. Magazine spring almost broke my index finger( i put it in a stupid place) so i think it's ok, unless too strong is a problem.

If it's broken would it most likely be noticeable or something less obvious like a weak or missing spring? Only semi auto i've ever had this problem with, hence the clueless-ness

Have you tried shooting the gun yet? If not take it out, load a round in the chamber 1st. Then load 2 more in the mag. Then shoot the gun and see if it cycles. I'll bet you have no problems.

If it still does not work then get back with us.

Like the 1100, it will not fully cycle manually and will only cycle when being fired. If you pull the bolt handle back manually, it will release a shell from the magazine but will not load it until you depress the shell stop release.

That's normal.

I'll take it out after muzzle loader season and blast a few rounds. I cleaned the interals out a bit, nothing to eventful in there.

I hope your right Bernie, That's what I've been hoping it was all along.

I'll post results of actually firing it, after i get a chance. thanks for the advice
