Found 5, 100 count packs, bought em all, 6 bucks each..............caps in reserves.

Oh yeah found em at Wal-Mart...........

I was at Gander Mountain and they had some. There was another guy buying them as well. When I went to check out, the cashier asked if I had called about them...

Did not realize that percussion caps were part of the current ammo craziness.
Makes me appreciate flint guns even more .

It's the exact opposite here. #10's are everywhere but #11's are almost a myth.

Yeah, caps have gotten challenging to find. It's actually easier to get modern primers than percussion caps right now, since that's apparently what's being produced.

no #11s or 10's anywhere ive been around cincinnati, one place i go hasnt had caps in months
making it hard for a new guy:( so i made a holster and im keeping busy that way:)

I'm between Cincinnati and Dayton in Warren county. The Gander Mountain I went to was just about where I-75 and I-70 cross.

Ive tried CCI 10's and 11's winchester 11s from walmart and remingtons 10s and 11s and im sticking with remingtons 10s.

There is a place near me that is nothing but blackpowder called James Country Merantile they have all the stuff even all the historical clothing.

They are the only place i could find the #10 remington caps then a few days ago i went to cabelas and now they have a bunc hof the remingtons.

The remington #10s fit all my guns, not a big remington fan because i had some REALLY bad luck with the remington golden bullet .22LR ammo but so far these caps have been the best.

Be very careful about those caps at 3rd generation shooters. They're OLD - at least a dozen years - different formula than the current ones and larger. They pop right off of nipples that work perfectly with current caps.

Last week my Wally World had no caps and the guy with the laser pistol said he saw none incoming though their (fake) BP section was otherwise full.

None of the .22 Rf the Rimfire folks have been talking about either........

All kinds of AR clones though........

i've been buying Remington caps there for years. Never had a problem using them with my rifles.

I'm glad they work for you but for a lot of people they won't. Remington changed the size and the chemistry for a reason.
Just got off the phone with a nice lady at Remington in Lonoke, Arkansas. She said the caps I have from 3rd Gen. Supply were made in 1986. Bought 2000 and am thinking of going back for more. They go bang and fit my ROA, Walker and 1860 as well as the newer CCI manfactured ones. At the price I paid, 2.99 a tin, compared to 4.99 to 6.99 at guns stores and Cabelas, I'll shoot them all day long. Don't think age means much, if they were properly stored and the packaging on these is pristine.

Maybe I should be more specific.

1. On my treso nipples on various cap and ball guns they keep popping off under recoil. These same nipples fit modern #11 remingtons perfectly. If you do a little Googling at the time a lot of people were complaining they were way larger than other #11s which is why Remington pulled them in a bit.
2. They're less hot than the current models (the ones that say 40% hotter) so if you're using substittues with a less than direct ignition path your reliability might suffer. As an example I have a hawken-type rifle that's 100% with 777 and Remington or CCI Magnum caps but these caps and CCI caps are unreliable.

I bought 2,000 as well, and I'll use them up eventually, but if I'd been warned ahead of time I'd have passed, and I think it's worth giving people a heads up rather than just saying oh, you can get Remingtons at such and such a place. Because it's technically true but people should be aware they're not getting the same caps they might be used to.

It also bugs me that there's no indication that they're selling old stock on their website, other than calling them "rifle caps" in one place.
