An 11-year-old boy whose mother thought he was asleep in bed was arrested for allegedly breaking into a gun shop with a boulder and stealing 14 semiautomatic weapons and 250 rounds of ammunition.

The boy, who wasn't named, and four teenagers attempted to pull off the dramatic heist of the Suburban Armory in the Philadelphia suburb of Collingdale, according to Collingdale Police Chief Robert Adams.

Among the others in the posse: a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old boy, who also weren't identified; 18-year-old Khalik Keyser of Chester, Pa., and 19-year-old Leroy Taylor of Philadelphia.

They traveled on public transportation to the gun store, gaining entry at about 11:45 p.m. Monday by disabling the alarm system and hurling a boulder through a window, police said.

The five filled allegedly stole 14 semiautomatic weapons, about 250 rounds of ammunition and the shop owner's loaded .38-caliber handgun that they stuffed into school backpacks.

But their plan didn't include a getaway car, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Two of the suspects were caught at a nearby pizzeria and another two at a bus stop. The 11-year-old was nabbed on a bus that got stuck in traffic.

No one was hurt in the attempted burglary, and all five are still in custody, Adams told FOXNews.com. Keyser is behind bars on $200,000 cash bail and Taylor is in jail on 10 percent of $200,000 bail. The two have been charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft and other offenses.

Keyser has a criminal history and is on probation after pleading guilty in 2005 to attempted murder and weapons charges in Philadelphia, according to the Daily News.

The 11-year-old and the other two teens will likely not be charged as adults, according to Adams.

"All three juveniles will probably stay in juvenile court," Adams said. "There was no violence committed, and no one was hurt. It was an empty building."

If you break into an empty building and don't hurt anyone in the process does it really qualify as a "Dramatic Heist"?

I love the media......

:what: sheesh thats a lot less threatening to me than

Pack those little bastards up and ship them to St. John's Military school in Salina, KS. until they are 18.

If they want to play with someone else's rifles they can do it walking off demerits.

Here's my favorite line.

Keyser has a criminal history and is on probation after pleading guilty in 2005 to attempted murder and weapons charges in Philadelphia, according to the Daily News.

So let me get this right. If you try to kill someone and succeed, you go to jail.

But if you try to kill someone and your incompetent, idiot, self, screws it up, you're in the clear?

In both cases you tried to kill someone! It's not my fault you're a schmuck and you can't get ANYTHING right!

How about put them in jail, with the big boys, along with their idiot parents (or at least the mom since ten bucks says daddy hot footed it a long time ago) for the rest of their worthless lives?

Did they really have to mention the "loaded" .38 special like it was the most dangerous thing they stole? wow...

There was no violence committed, and no one was hurt

Well give them all a candy bar and send them home.

They won't grow up to be real criminals will they?

18-year-old Khalik Keyser of Chester, Pa

My family is from Chester, Dad grew up and was raised there and his moms family built most the town with their brick company.
Haven't been there since the 60's when my grandparents died. Last year when I flew into Phila to visit family, I was gonna take a short jaunt form the airport to see the old neighborhood. My brother said absolutly not. The only way to go there is with an armed escort from the national guard.

The school has a fine reputation, and they don't need to be stuck with the likes of this bunch. However a taste of boot camp life done USMC style might be just what the doctor ordered. It would seem that the permissive juvenile court system is not having the desired effect.

And in 2008 he's back on the street. It is no wonder that crime is out of control in Philadelphia.

I feel terrible for the kid. I'm not saying he didn't know it was wrong, but there is something else at play here than just an 11 year old who woke up one morning and said "I think I'll rob a gun store".

It amazes me that with stories of people commiting major crimes and only getting slaps on the wrist others still feel we need more laws. It's stated that we need to get guns off the street to make these kids safe when you truly have to get these kids off the street to make us safe. They steal fourteen handguns which some people in our hands say is a "killing machine" but these "little kids" were in an "empty building" and will get let off easy. You have to shake your head and ask how people are so foolish when one kid is out on probation for attempted murder. As was previously posted he got let of easy because he screwed up.
