115 or 124gr 9mm "Middle of the road" load?

Looking for a "Middle of the road" or general purpose load using Win231 or Titegroup. Plinking, IDPA, Speed steel,etc.
I will be using Precision Delta 115 or 124gr plated 9mm.

Seems to me Titegroup is too fast for a high pressure 35,000 PSI cartridge like the 9mm.

The "middle road" according to Hodgdon Titegroup data is 0.3 tenths grain between Start loads and MAX loads.

W-231 is better, but not a whole lot.

I might try W231 with:
115 = 4.9 or 5.0.
124 = 4.6 or 4.7.

But thats just a WAG.
I use 5.5 grains Unique with 115 plated bullets, and 5.0 with 124 plated bullets.

I load 9mm with tightgroup all the time at :
124 gr berry's plated bullets- hollow base with 4.3 grs of tightgroup.
It has a very crisp recoil, shoots very clean, but heats up the barrel very quickly. It burns really fast and is not designed for high pressure loads.
I have had very good results with accuracy but wouldn't load it any hotter than that.

There are slower burning powders out there, a lot of them, that would do as good if not better. Once you get addicted to the recoil though, it is not easy to let go of it. But I did any ways. You may not know what I mean by this statement but I shoot 357 mag as a primary and for some reason I always like the recoil of the tightgroup in my sr9. I can't explain any more than that. It's just a personal thing.

Universal Clays also works very well as does W231 and a host of others.
the amount of powder you use is something you have to find for yourself. Just follow the published literature and stay in the "middle of the road" without going off in some tangent and you will find what works best for you.

I've loaded about 2k 115g precision delta with universal clays with good results. Never tried their 124.

I use 4.4gr of Winchester 231 to load Berry 124gr plated bullets.
Very reliable and accurate in all my 9mm pistols and a revolver.
Works very reliably in my MAC-10 too.
Been loading and shooting this combo for 10+ years and I'm very happy with it's performance.

4.4 of w-231 worked fine for 124gr plated for me in a Ruger SR9. For 115gr I have loaded between 4.2 and 4.8 of w-231

I can't even count the number of 9mm cartridges I've loaded with Titegroup. Well over 50,000.

I like 4.2 grains behind a Montana Gold 124grn. JHP for a nice soft USPSA Minor PF load.

Titegroup is fine in 9mm. Heck it's by far the most common powder I heard people using when I've talked to other people loading 9mm.

Right now the main loads loads I'm using are 4.3gr of Titegroup behind a 115gr bullet, and 4.8gr of Unique behind a 124gr bullet.

4.3 grs of 231 gave 124 gr bullets about 1040/1045'/sec-130pf in my CZ 4.72" bbl. (PD 124gr fmj, Win 124 fmj, MG124 cmj: 1.132-ish oal.).

It shoots fine, but is very sooty loaded that light.

4.0 grs of Vit n320 will do exactly the same but shoots clean & cool. (125gr Zero jhp, Mg 124 jhp: 1.10", Berry's 124 HBRN, Zero 124 fmj: 1.132-ish")

I load my Rainier 124gr with 4.7gr of 231 at 1.140-50 and it feels like a good mid range load through my 4" XD.

My CZ 75BD has a really tight leade, so I load my Lee 358-125-rf to 1.01oal with 3.8g of Universal, pretty much a minimum charge as the powder is compressed a bit. Thousands of these so far.

4.4gr W231 has worked very well for me with a 124gr bullet for a long time now. It's not a super hot load but I think it's what you're looking for.

I load a 124 round nose 1.125" with 4.4 grains of titegroup for my basic load. 4.0 grains would sometimes not cycle the action on my Sub-2000 carbine so I stepped up to 4.4 grains.

I load 4.7 grains of Titegroup with a 124 HP for a +P load.

I like stuff like W-231, AA #5, WSF, HS-6, True Blue, N320, N330, N340, etc. They all fill the case well, are clean to very clean, and accurate. Unique should work well, I just haven't tried it in 9MM for some reason.

I use 4 grains of titegroup behind 124 gr berry's plated hbfp. Shoots great out of my Sig P225, tried them in a friend's Beretta Px4 they kept stovepiping.

Favorite load right now for IDPA is 4.8 W231 under 115gr FMJ. Gives me about 130PF out of my Walther PPQ and Wilson 5" 1911 9mms.

Very clean, excellent accuracy.

I've settled on 5.7 grains Unique behind a 115 grain X-Treme plated bullet. This shoot's nice and is very accurate.

Today I also found out that 8 grains blue dot works great with the same bullet, although it gives a thunderous crack. Its accurate though!
