I reloaded Shotshells and Handgun loads many years ago, So now Im starting up again.
Using A Lee Classic Turret. I am so far loading 9mm, 124Gr Berry RN w/Titegroup
9mm, 115 gr Berry RN w/700x
38 Spl 125 Gr Extreme FN w/700x

I have A few loads that I have worked up in these calibers that I feel good with.

But I am looking for some possibilities for 40 S&W
I have Blue Bullet 165 gr FP on hand.
Powders I have are. Bullseye, Titegroup, 700x and HP38

Any suggestions appreciated.

These loads are for general paper punching and plinking.
Thanks

Personally I would use the HP-38 and work up loads from Hogden's website. I use it for my 40 SW loads with 165 gr FP from Extreme and it does great

Welcome back. We missed you.

► After side-by-side testing, I switched to the Berry 124gr Hollow Base RN, which I loaded to the exact same OAL and load as the standard 124gr RN. They also have a HB 115gr too.

► In 40, the 700x and HP-38 are going to perform much better.

I have loaded 500 rnds of 40sw with 4.8 grns of 700X this week.

Xtreme 165gr, rnfp hpcb as above.

During the great powder shortage, i tried a load using 800x with the same bullet. A little too dirty , seems to need a heavier bullet maybe would be better with 180gr bullet.

I suspect you good work up a good load with the Tightgroup too.

I've run quite a few 10mms in the upper range with 800X. 180 gr'ers. They all bunrt pretty clean. I think this is another one that cleans up just fine at higher pressures.

Still hate the way it meters though. I save it for hand weighed special use ammo.

Of the powders you listed, I would suggest HP-38 (same powder as W231). It meters well and flexible enough to produce accurate plinking loads at start charges.

I used Bullseye and Titegroup for 40S&W but Bullseye will produce more snappy recoil and Titegroup burns too hot and violent for 40S&W.

If you are looking for full power loads, I would suggest Unique/Universal and slower powders. I really like BE-86/Herco (Herco is VERY clean burning for 40S&W) for mid-to-high range 40S&W loads as they produce very accurate loads with less snappy moderate recoil and usually use WSF for full power loads.

Thanks for the replies so far Guys.
I have for the time settled in on 4.7 Gr 700x under the 165 gr Blue Bullets.
I'm ordering some 180 gr RMR tomorrow. And will be working up A load for that next.

I think you are on the right track regarding a load using 700-x. My best load using 700-x has been at 4.6gr with plated Xtreme 165gr with a 1.142" COL. 700-X is not a preferred powder for 40S&W since the range from min to max is about .5 gr and you need to be careful.
