I am using a Lee Loader to get neck sizing only benefits. Round is to be fired in a Mosin Nagant M91/30 Hex Receiver. Using JMS surplus ball (from CDNN) I have been getting single ragged hole accuracy at 25 yards, about 3/4". I'd like to handload these boxer cases that I used to make that hole.

Bullets are .308 in diameter for this bore.

Id like to reload some real light practice loads. 125 grains jacketed is what I'm looking for, which is the second to lightest load in the Lee Manual that came with the kit.

H322 powder, one Lee Dipper full of powder (2.5 cc), 34.2 grains of powder, at 2462 fps. this is the starting load. Bullet is 125 grain jacketed. --from the Lee Manual for this Lee Loader kit.

Here's the question. The closest thing I can find is 123 grain jacketed in 308 (7.62x39 bullets). the bullet is 123 grains, the card starting load is for a 125 grain bullet.

can i use the same starting load anyway? or is a 2 grain difference big enough that this would not be safe to do?

starting loads are always fired with me wearing full protective gear.

Virtually no difference...Figure it out...A two grain difference? There 7000 grains to a pound...If you weigh a few of the 125 grain bullets you'll find that they are 125 +/- 2 grains or so anyway...

awesome.
besides the recoil and less battering benefits, 125 grain bullets are a helluva lot cheaper than the 150 grain hunting bullets ive been using.

FYI, 7.62x39 bullets are usually .310, not .308.

The Hungarian 7.62x54 I have for my Mosin measures at .310 though, so you should be safe with .310.
