I loaded up some 125gr LRN with 2.8 and 3.2 grains of Clays last night and took 'em to the range. They were the most inaccurate things I have ever shot. Barely a 10" group at 10 yards. I also had some 124gr plated rounds over 3.5gr of Clays that I shot first, and they were fine, so I don't think it's the gun.

I've also used the same bullets over 5.0gr of AA#5 and they were OK.

Maybe Clays is just not strong enough. They list 3.3gr as their max for 125 LRN.

Anybody have any experience with LRN in the CZ75?

3.3gr MAX? Seems like barely a starting load to me. I used to load 3.6gr under a plated 124 for a nice plinking load. 3.7gr is the listed max for a 125FMJ (only data I have handy).

(this is off the top of my head, check published data, etc.)

Yep, that's what they said - 3.3gr with pressure of 30,900 CUP for a 125gr LCN. Seems low to me, too. I ran 3.5gr under a Rainier plated 124gr and it worked fine.

I shoot 3.8 under a 115 FMJ a lot and it is superb. Clays is very nice in lower end 9's.

"Yep, that's what they said - 3.3gr ..."

Who is "they"? Like the others, I think the max load you used is too light even for a starting load. Try a little more and see what happens.

Mal H has a point. "They" in this case above is the Hodg peeps themselves.

Sorry. The "they" I referred to was Hodgdon. (I can't get the HTML to format).

I'm sorry, gwalchmai, but I don't trust that info. If it's wrong, it won't be the first time a manufacturer gave out bum info, trust me.

First of all, they don't say whether the 125 gr. bullet is lead or jacketed. How did you come to the conclusion it is for lead? [Edit - I was in the loading room looking at manuals when you changed the post. The first one is for lead. At least, I guess that's what LCN implies.]

I can find no corroborating data in any of my manuals (including several from Hodgdon) or on their website.

Clays is a very fast powder, almost the fastest commercial powder and shouldn't be used with dubious info.
