My boxs of truth is 6 ft thick bundles
of hardwood. The drywall is
just in front of it.Lead slugs go 3/4 of
the way through. 750 gr solids
went all the way through. With
12GA FH long brss case.

Pressures-12gaFH brass case is
between 20k and 35k psi.Bolt gun.
10 & 12ga plastic up to 16k psi,
in NEFs, break actions.

8 ga plastic 25k psi in bolt gun.
Don't know what 8ga will do in
a break action until we a modern
one rigged up.

Lining up cars might do but due to high price
of junk there are none left here.Ed

Maybe we should put this in the shotgun forum so the feds don't come get you? :neener: j/k, kind of.....

Earlier this winter I tried that.
I asked the folks here to put it in
shotgun forum as so much of the
work is, and is going to be shotgun
related. I just want the post count and view count kept with the thread
also. The view count is the highest
of any forum, that we have this
info on, and talked about. Ed

I also have two other cartridges with my name
on them that I am promoting. They are my 700HE
and my 585BHE. They both belted straight cases.
Montana Rifle company is coming out with their
big PH action and some guys will be doing my
cases in them.

Info on the 585BHE. It will work in
any gun that handles 505 Gibbs like Enfield, CZ,
Ruger, etc.Mine is in Enfield. Here is picture of
of one next to Trex. And mine holds 15gr more
powder than that Trex case. 585BHE will do 750
grain from 1800 to 2800 fps in my Enfield.

Anyone interested setting up a gun, contact me
I will furnish reamer and 15 free cases. Cases are
headstamped. When done return reamer to me, for
the next guy. I will keep them sharpened. After a
few guys have guns we all will get together with
others wanting some and get a run of brass made.
These cases are all drawn high pressure brass.
I'd like guys to ask for reamer when gun is going
to be ready to chamber, that way reamers get the
most guns done in shortest time.Ed

On Fri May 2 8pm on the Science Channel ,they will have
an article about the heavy barrel cannons that shoot
the brass cases for bomb disposal. They are the same as
our 12GA FH case, when resized in my dies and are shown
in this thread a couple months back in picture.
It will show them using them for bomb disposal. Ed

Testing 8GA FH in Enfield, 1050 gr slug in wad cup, 120 gr
of 4759, over 2000 fps. Cases extract easy. Hardly any
base cup expansion...Ed

hello all,i seem to find these threads late but it takes some time to search this forum, this thread brought back memories of something i found a few years back, did not build it and have never fired it,i do know it was built to fire 12ga brass car DSCN0524.gif DSCN0521.gif DSCN0520.gif DSCN0519.gif DSCN0517.gif DSCN0515.gif DSCN0514.gif DSCN0513.gif DSCN0511.gif tidges ,barrel is rifled looks like one twist full length of barrel, don't remember how many groves,it was built by a barrel maker in rome, georgia.don't know when,he stamped his name and location on the barrel, best i can make it out is B.C. ADS CKS,maybe some of the old pros out there will know more,i used a small coca cola bottle for a little scale

Ed, Tailgunner and I are just waiting for you to finish up. I cannot wait to knock my first white tail in to the next county with one of those. Any accuracy tests yet? Or are you still just pushing the envelope?

I don't know if I am ever finished,
So many wild ideas. With peep sights
on Savage got 3" at 50 yds.Bad eyes and all. Some fellows used our
plastic 12ga case loads for critters.
I also am concentrating on my two
wildcats getting them out to big bore
nuts, and built on as many guns
as possible. Ed

Here is picture of a sectioned 8ga plastic case
showing how heavy and strong it is built. The
plastic is one piece compressioned formed and
the sides of the cases are twice as thick as
12ga cases. You can see the double thickness
of the base cup. Ed

Here is picture of the bolt setup for the 8ga
Enfield we did. Also comparison to a Mauser
12ga shotgun bolt conversion, from which
I got the concept. Ed

I was asked how I got 8ga heavy barrel so quick.
First it is smoothbore, second a 110 bucks total shipping and all.
First I bought a 1.5 inch dia 4130 alloy, heat treated, shaft,
32" long. Then I had a deep hole drilling company drill
a .832" hole in it. Came out centered on both ends.
Then after it got here I used cylinder hone to polish
the inside of the bore. Threaded it, chambered it, and put
in the Enfield bolt action. The heat treating it had was just like
the barrel stock that barrel guys get. Ed.

Can you make a shot load out of the big brass (Like .22 rimfire shotshells)? Would be great for those pesky anacondas...maybe even a passable turkey load (the country, not the bird!):what:

I just found this Post and I love what you have done. I would like to get one of them one day but it would be great to see a video, are you able to put a video up yet?
Keep up the great work.
John

We hope to get video stuff later on.
And maybe our isp post it.
We have a slow barb wire fence
phone line so I couldn't post a video
on site until that is fixed.

As for shot loads, I've tested buckshot in my long 12ga brass case.
used 12 #0 at 2000 fps, shot went
through 1/8" steel. Put a card over
the shot, glued it in. Ed

For those wanting to see video of the 12GA FH in
the Savage busting big pail of water, one of the
kids posted it on Youtube- Titled "Grampa's Cannon".
I just found out that it is on there.
This was the video that the still pictures posted
before, was takem from. They have the sound
muted so as not to hurt camera sound system. Ed

The 3 ought buckshot over 2000 fps
in 8 ga goes through 2" hardwood
planks real nice. Also that load as
well as the 770gr slug load hardly
kicks due to gun setup, with weight
and thumbhole stock. Later I will test
a 800 gr 8ga hollowpoint at good speed
on a 6 gallon water pail.Ed

Man oh man this is one of my favorite threads, What makes it great is the updates Ed gives us on the firearms+ammunition.

Keep it up Ed.

Tailgunner suggested mounting one
on rollover bar on pickup, like military
MG mount.Shooter standing in box
have good vision. But alas MI doesn't
allow shooting game from vehicle.Ed
