I just picked up a Win 1300 from a member here and as I'm a lefty, I'd like to flip the safety.

Can anyone fill me in on how to do this or perhaps point me to a site that'll 'splain it to me?

Thanks...

Let me know if you find anything out about this.

Thanks.

Well, I found a 'left hand safety' part listed on Winchester's site. What I haven't found yet is a good site on DIY shotgun work.

Any ideas?

I am right handed and don't need to change mine.

If it was me....

I would buy the part pull the gun apart and figure out how to get the lefty part back in there... can't be that hard.

Oooh! I'm just excited that there's a "lefty part"!

FWIW, I took mine apart a couple times trying to "make my own" lefty safety. It wasn't hard at all to take apart and reassemble, but it was impossible to "make it work" with the right hand button and a dremel :what: .

Buy the lefty button (buy 2, send me one :D kidding, but seriously, send me a link to the part!) And do the work yourself at the kitchen table with a screwdriver or two. It was quite easy.

Good luck...

Steve

AAUUGH!

+ Not sold to customers. Installation must be made by a gunsmith. Orders from dealers and distributors will be accepted on the understanding that the parts will be fitted by a gunsmith.

:(

An $8.95 part, and a $40 gunsmithing charge...

Yeah, kinda lame. I think I may be able to talk my dealer into it but you never know.

I called them at lunch... They aren't just kidding about it being a "restricted part".

I have a copy of my dealer's FFL around, so I gave them his FFL number and address. I told them I was the end consumer, and it was just easier for me to order the part I needed and pay for it myself since my dealer was a small (and very busy) shop, but he'd be doing the installation. The guy said he didn't know if he could do it that way, and if he had any problems running it through, he'd call me.

I have no idea if he'll ship it to me or the dealer, but my dealer will call me if it comes into his shop. Worst case scenario, I'll have to pay my dealer to install it.

Thanks again for the post... Without it, I'd have never known they exist!
