OK, I keep reading about this new 135gr ammo, supposedly designed for optimal performance in short-barreled revolvers and autos. I think it was first designed for the 357/38 revolver, then was expanded to the 9mm line.
I have never seen the results of it used on the street. Does anyone know how its performed on the street? Not looking for ballistic gelatin performance, only "true tales from the street".
Thanks,

David

You, me and many others are also eagerly awaiting that data. Unfortunately, I think it is still too new of a cartridge for any sizeable sampling to have been taken (i.e. bodies in the gutter). In the meantime I stick to other "exotic" ammo, like 158gr SWC-HP, 146gr SWC-HP, and 152gr Hardcast Wadcutters.

I think this ammo is going to have a hard time besting the performance of the 147-158gr stuff. The results will speak for themselves, but that's my prediction.

I believe the theroy of the heavier bullet is an attempt to balance the penetration depth due to the loss of velocity caused by the shorter barrel.

Unless I'm mistaken the 135+p speer gold dot is the NYC police department issued load. I'm sure that they must have busted a crook or 200 with this load by now!

NYPD Issue 9mm Ammo

Unless there has been a recent change of which I am unaware, the NYPD issues the Speer 124 gr. Gold Dot +P rounds to its MOS.

Both, the 135 grain +p is the issue load for the gazillions of .38s they still have floating around.

The guy who ran AmmoLab put up a post saying there was one NYPD shooting on record with it and it involved four rounds. Don't know if that means it took four rounds to put the suspect down or the officer popped off four shots as fast as he could.

As the saying goes, "shoot'em once, shoot'em 10 times, same amount of paper work either way".
