I was and am the same way, but you have to understand that each weapon has a place. They are just tools and sometimes having 15 rounds of 9mm will be better than 8 in .45 ACP. Sometimes not. Sometimes having six rounds of .44 Mag is better.

Still I end up carrying a 5 shot snub or 8 rounds in a 1911.

I have a 12 year old son who is the same way. He asked me the other day where he could buy a new 30/30 savage like mine. I have to break the news to him that they stopped making the Savage 340 about 20 years (or more) ago. We are now looking for one a gun shows for him while I use his 243 for target practice

I am 26 and a revolver nut. I don't have any problem with the "new fangled designs" but I really hate plastic, and under powered rounds.

I'm 18 and I like the more traditional guns, as you say, but I also like the tacticool looking guns too. As long as the gun doesn't have problems left and right, I will enjoy shooting it. As long as said gun looks nice to the eye (to me) I will enjoy owning one if I ever decide to purchase one.

Forget the crowd and march to your own drummer, your likes are unique to you.
Kudos to your maturity, from a 63 y/o who was like you many yrs ago

I'm 23 and I'm collecting Smith and Wesson revolvers. My favorite of which is a 19-3 pinned and recessed that I bought off a real nice guy on this very forum. I love my 1911, and do in fact own a AR, with iron sights, and standard handguards just like I wanted.

One of the best afternoons I could imagine is with my Winchester bolt action .22 with a fixed 4x (it does have irons, which is a requirement on all of my firearms) and my single action .22 revolver. a cylinder of .357, or a mag of .45acp makes it that much sweeter.

Don't worry, you're in good company.

Quality speaks to observant people of any age.
True enough, though OP seems to be disregarding a large variety of quality firearms because the aesthetics displease him. Nothing against 1911s or any other quality gun though, whether they're 2 years old, or 200.

I like traditional guns as well. Single Action Army and Lever Actions all the way, all this high tech stuff makes me ill.

First off, welcome to our world. You have a long, happy life of shooting fun ahead of you. I am envious of your youth and limitless opportunity.

Now then, youngster, I hate to break it to you, but you are a hopeless, died-in-the-wool, modernist. Every gun you enjoy as "traditional" was, at one time, a new-fangled atrocity.

Like that 1911? To the nineteenth century, revolver-centric mind, it was an abomination. And the brass cartridge? Anathema to the cap-and-ball crowd. And so it goes, back throught flint locks, match locks, wheel locks, and so on. What do you think a longbow archer thought the first time he laid eyes on a crossbow? And why would anyone need a sling, when he's got a perfectly good throwing arm?

Age will give you perspective. Some day, one of your grandkids will tell you, "Rail guns and laser vaporizors are OK, but I really like the old, traditional polymer, striker-fired bullet launchers. C'mon Grandpa, let's go kill some cans."

I'm 19 and I love 1911s! I really don't like these new high tech looking designs. I'm also a huge fan of revolvers. I "have" a Ruger Single Six, a simple little .22 revolver. All black, nothing special. It belongs to my fiance (n003k) since I'm not of age, but for all intents and purposes it is mine to use at the range and my responsibility to take care of. He also just recently bought a little Herbert Schmidt revolver, also a .22. I seem to be attracted to really old guns as well, such as a really ornate Colt Dragoon from the 1800s, one of fifty made and a gun shop around the corner has one. Unfortunately, it is 4 grand :(

I am 37, and do not own an AR. Had one, shot it once, and quickly swapped it pronto for a lever action.

Steel and walnut guy, nuff said.
