At this point, I am not setup to cast and swag my own. For my .357 Magnum revolvers, I am seeking commercially manufactured hard cast (18-21 BHN) bullets that are 158 grain with a gas check, but have been unsuccessful. They can be either SWCGC or WNFPGC.

I am not interested in any other bullet weights, just 158 gn. Already have a boatload of 180 grain cast WNFPGC on hand, (Also have standard 158 grain bevel base SWC on hand), but I only want gas checked 158 grain cast bullets.

So far, Midway, Grizzly, Rim Rock, Montana, Hunters Supply, etc., are all a no go, either out of stock or unavailable.

Anybody have a current source? If so, need links.

Thanks:)

Western Bullets is not well known but I have been buying from them for many years. I buy 200gr bullets for a replica 38/200 load, 170gr bullets for the 30-30 and a few other of their bullets.

They have a 158gr SWCGC bullet and the prices aren't way out of line.

They have always been good to deal with so buy without fear...

Call them. And even though you don't have gmail, you can send an email to them. Just type their address into your normal email sending "to" box.

I load 158gr SWC with BRN of 18 to max 357 mag loads using 296/110 and they work great, and are super accurate, no leading. Missouri cast are awesome.

I'd ditch the gas checks.

If you just GOTTA have hard, then just order up a box of the WFN or SWC in 158gr from Oregon Trail and be done with it. No GC needed with these critters.

I have shot them to top end full magnum loads with no issues what so ever. I loaded them over H-110/296, AA-9, and 2400 and shot them out of two different GP-100's, and two different Contender barrels one in 8" and the other in 10".

Like mentioned you really don't need hard to go fast, just a good fit and good lube. I shoot my home cast 160gr HP's to 1300'ish FPS and they are around a 11BHN and plain based, sized to .358" and lubed with Carnuba Red. They look like this when recovered

I agree but that's not what the OP asked for. It is extremely clear the OP wants information on a 158gr GC bullet and nothing else. I try to answer the question asked instead of telling the OP what I like to do. It is frustration when you are very clear and the answers ignore your wishes.

I forgot to mention that I will also be firing these rounds out of a rifle and will exceed 1700 fps from it; hence, a gas check. I like to keep things simple, so I use the same load in both my revolver (GP100 Match Champion) as well as my lever gun.

True, but the OP is not the only audience. I have gain a lot of information from the diversions in a thread. For example, I was wondering if I would have problems shooting lead at 357 mag loads.

Still, it can be frustrating for the OP if no one answers his question specifically.

Well I apologize for not reading into the initial post that there would be a rifle involved, but as clearly stated,

For my .357 Magnum revolvers,

Granted it was also clearly stated that you wanted a hard GC bullet. I simply pointed out that the Laser Cast will get you there and not need the GC, probably even out of the rifle. My apologies.
