I have only started to pour for the 9mm here recently after finally picking up a P226. The initial mold I used was one I got in a MP 125gr for the .357, but it works great for both. It allows me to use a couple of different HP pins for some awesome HP's that drop out at about 130grs with my alloy. The other 9mm mold I have poured up a bunch of is the Lee RN TL version. I powder coat then size to .357 for all of them.

In 38/357, I am liking the Lyman 358429 SWC or the MP 358640. The great thing with the MP molds are you get up to 3 maybe 5 different styles of bullets from one mold, depending on which pins are offered. The 640 will give a nice deep HP which after lubed with Carnuba Red weighs in at 160grs. I can use the same load with both it and the heavier Lyman which drops at 178grs with my alloy. Either of these are accurate and formidable for anything I want to use them for.

In 41 it is the Keith SWC or again the MP 411640. The 640 profile has come to be my favorite as it is easy to find accuracy and gives a wide nose wether cast in a solid or HP. Using the small HP pins it gives awesome expansion and holds together well in my test media. Well driven to the proper velocity anyway. I loaded some up in a 180 and 220gr of the same profile and the results are as you can see pretty impressive, the ones with shed noses are the 180's which impacted at a touch over 1600fps.

In 44 I also use the MP 640 profile as well as the Keith SWC. Hard to beat the classic.

For the 45 ACP it is the HG68 and it even comes from the HG mold. I also like the MP 200gr HP, shown below which has found it's way to the top of the list for all around use. Either powder coated or plain lube they all shoot great.

For the Colt it is the Lee 255gr RF or the MP 454640 or the MP version of the 45 270SAA. Any of those in the solid version will shoot lenghtwise through a 5 gallon bucket of the loose sand I use at 25yds. THrow the HP pin in them and you get a massive flattened out nose.

I know there is a trend there for the MP molds. I have to say I have around a dozen or so of them in different profiles but the main one is the 640. They are a bit expensive, but the craftmanship is top notch. The other thing is it's not like buying a Lyman in a single bullet. With the Cramer style pins, you usually get a SM, LG, Penta, and now CUP point pins as well as the standard blank for pouring solids. So your actually getting 3-4 molds in one for the same price. Don't get me wrong however I keep a goodly stock of Lyman and Lee molds as well, but for hunting or SD purposes, I lean hard on the MP's.

Flat-base, especially if using a Lubri-Sizer.

I cast a 45ACP started out as a 240gr, with the modifications made, the end result should have been around 180gr, mine weighed 191gr, they are Hollow Points, Cast Lead (Wheel Weights) with Added Antimony to get them to 16.4 BHN.

Should I just list all the molds I own? I don't keep the ones that don't perform. There are way to many to list. I'm currently experimenting w/ a bunch of different designs for 327 Federal. No clear winner as of yet. The Single7 short cylinder really makes it hard to come up w/ one load when you have other firearms in 327 that can be loaded to full length.

No matter what I make them. Having full control f every aspect is what makes it so interesting. If I had to pick one mold that's my favorite. That would be a MP 359-640. Hearing it strike steel at 150 yards is a satisfying sound.
