180 gr. xtp load for 357

I just got gifted a box of these and need load data. Anybody help? the hornady book is one of the few I don't have!

Lyman #49 has data for them.

What kind of powder do you have?
They list 7 powders and I ain't gonna type it all.

Alliant 2400 is 10.0 start and 12.6 MAX.
H-110 is 13.9 Start and 14.5 MAX.

I'm using 14gr of H110

The Hodgdon Load Data Site is a good place to start. The Accurate Arms Site also has load data for the 180gr XTP. Alliant stops at a 170gr bullet but the Ramshot Site has 180gr XTP load data too.

12gr of 2400 under the 180gr XTP makes a nice load for my Security Six. Very accurate and easily manageable.

I load 13grs of 296 with a magnum primer for a 6" GP100.

I've gotten good results from 296 also. I keep H110 around for another caliber so it's the go to for the big 357 loads. If I didn't already have the H110 I'd be using 296.

H110 and Win 296 are exactly the same powder, out of the same shipping container, from the same St. Mark's Powder company in Florida.

Hodgdon packages and sells both, and they will tell you the same thing.
Even the data they publish for both powders is exactly the same.

Hodgdon's Lil'Gun and the Hornady 180gr XTP go together like apple pie and vanilla ice-cream.
15.0gr of Lil'Gun gets over 1,100fps from my 4" Ruger Sec.6 and shoots as good as the gun will shoot (~4" @50yds.)..... much lower pressures than the H110/Win296 and others.

I'm gonna have some words with my local reloading supplier. He's charging $2 more a can for the 296 and assured me it was a far better powder than h110.

You should have a good talk with him but it is possible he just doesn't know they are the same powders. (although he should)
