I'm still reading up on flintlock kits. I've ruled out the Track Of The Wolf (TOW) 1792-1794 contract rifle.
I was set on getting the 1803 Harpers Ferry from TOW but started checking out other options. I ran into the Rifle Shoppe and their 1800 US Short Rifle kit. Very interesting read on the #15 Harpers Ferry rifle, perhaps this indeed was one of the rifles carried by Lewis & Clark.
Anyone build the 1800 US Short Rifle or another kit from The Rifle Shoppe? They seem to imply they make their own parts local, how is the quality? The TOW lists a good barrel, lock and has the White Lightnin' liner as an option (of course this could be added to the 1800 as well).
