I'm just wondering if I could fit a steel .44 frame on this baby!

In theory, yes you could. But you would need to buy an 1860 Army model frame made by the same company that made the revolver, and most likely some fitting would be required. These guns are not something where parts are simply assembled and you're done.

Hey William
you got all those spare parts would you be willing to sell some of them?
Mainly the 3 parts I am looking for are a Pietta Colt .44 cylinder also a Pietta Colt sheriff brl. with loading ram and a .36 cal remington Cylinder also Pietta.

Even starting with parts from the same maker well not guarantee a correct fit. I have encountered different arbor diameters with Pietta Colts. I think if you work with parts close to the same time frame you well be closer to proper fitting.

The last time I spoke to VTI, they said I could make an SAA grip frame fit my '51 with some fitting, and that I could make a '60 barrel fit as well, but something about milling the barrel and redoing the forcing cone... but then again I was going to put a Kirst conversion onto it as well to hide the fact that it isn't a '60 frame and have what would appear to be a three screw Pietta .44 '60 civilian:p... and here I sit with my untouched '51 with an R&D cylinder:(

I was intending to use this one for blank firing re-enacting only...I believe a Kirst would be safe if live rounds were never fired through it.
