1873 type grip frame questions.

Looking to make a grip and grip frame change...

When you change from a typical plow handle set up, to a birdshead; does the trigger guard and front part of the frame typically change? Or is the change just the rear parts and wood grip?

For a birdshead, the grip strap, front strap, @nd stocks all need to change. Same for a Bisley grip.

I am not sure if the old mainspring will work or not.

I have not done this conversion. I have held a birdshead and found it to be far outside of my taste in handgun grips. For me, the old plowshare handle with slimmer stocks is a winner but my favorite has thicker stocks.
