1897 Browning pump shotgun

Can anyone out there tell me the aprox value of an original 1897 Browning pump. I'm not sure when it was made. I know production dates were 1897-1957. It was my grandfathers and it was passed to me along with a Browning A5. I do know that it is from the original production run and not a replica or remake. Also if anyone knows of a website I can plug in the ser number and get some info. That would be cool too.

I'm assuming you're referring to the Winchester Model 1897 Shotgun. If you post the first four numbers of the serial number, I can tell you approximately when it was made.

Value varies on these guns. I've paid as little as $150.00 for a 1954 model 97, and as much as $450.00 for a Black Diamond. I've also seen them list for as much as $800.00, but no one was buying at that price.
