I was asked by a member about potential fixes for his 1903. His comments:
It will often have rounds jam in the magazine. I've had it in to the shop and they had no ideas, do you?

I asked: Do you know what your gun shop tried? Did they replace the magazine spring? Does this happen with all types of ammunition? When you say "rounds jam", do you mean they hang up as you attempt to feed the next round into the chamber?

It acts like the mag is too wide. two rounds will be shoved up in such a manner as they lock together in the mag and cannot be raised by the mag follower.

I still think this could be a worn-out spring issue. Other thoughts?

Had a difficulty with an '03 Springfield once, similar feeding problem with the last two rounds. Turned out the mag spring had slipped out of position on either the follower or base(been a while, can't remember which). That let the follower tip a little to one side, and that caused the problem.

Have them try switching the follower out to a Mauser 98 follower.Sounds crazy but it works.

My apologies. The question is about the 1903 Springfield.

Heh heh.. Phew! You had me worried there!

I'm slowly aquiring a collection of "c&r" pocket pistols - so you can guess what a "1903" means to me :D

I'm pleased to see that you have some useful replies too!
