When I first heard that Browning was going to produce a .22 1911 this year, I thought it would be pretty cool to get one. Today, I was just looking around and saw that the M.S.R.P. for these is $600. WOW, are they really worth that? I saaw that Buds had them for like $503 and were sold out. Does anyone really think a .22 caliber 1911 is worth $500, or is it just the novelty of the fact that it was made on the 100th anniversary of the 1911?

Nope, for $500+ you're paying for the Browning name in addition to the gun.

The GSG-1911 retails for around $300 and from what I've heard is a good gun. Another possibility in that price range is to pick up a .22 conversion--I'm planning on picking up the Kimber conversion eventually.

Not worth it IMHO. For that money you're well above the Ruger .22's or even Browning's own Buckmarks. The Ruger 22/45 has ergonomics pretty darned close to a 1911 if you want that anyways (some models even take 1911 grip panels).

IMHO, if you want an anniversary year 1911, get a real 1911 (ie, .45ACP - I personally would even go for one as close to original milspec as possible if that's the goal).

Nope, not worth it....All of the money in that thing is because of the Browning name and the 100th hype.....I'm waiting to hear a range report on how these guns actually shoot and function. I'm betting not so good.
