I understand that some aluminum-framed 1911s may suffer from excessive wear to the feed ramp, usually caused by certain kinds of followers, particularly those found in 8-round .45 magazines. I run Metalform 7-round magazines, which I have read do not cause this problem.
What I have not read about is whether aluminum-framed 1911s in other calibers - particularly .38 Super and 9x19 - have this problem. Do aluminum 1911s in these calibers have this problem, and if so what magazines should be used/avoided?
