Springfield stainless loaded model. Full size. In a Be Secure bellyband every day.

Kimber/Bul poly. Full size. In a Rosen pancake whenever I can wear an outer garment.

I carry a Kimber Pro Carry Stainless (4" Stainless with alum frame) in a VMII. All day every day.

I wouldn't have any problems carrying a full size 1911, the length of the slide doesn't any real difference if you are carrying IWB, the handle is the only part that is visible and distinguishable, and if you have a good holster and a thick gun belt the weigh isn't that bad at all.

I have been carrying my fullsize Springfield Loaded quite a bit lately. IWB in a custom HBE holster. I don't mind the larger gun.
I also carry a Makarov and a CZ P-01 from time to time.

5" steel 1911 almost all of the time (varying brands), Brown Kobra Carry if I need something smaller (I carry OWB), or a Colt XSE LW Commander when it gets really hot.

I have been alternating between a springfield loaded government model, a star bm(1911 clone), and my springfield xd(grip angle same as 1911). I also will start carrying my browning hp this fall after i get some work done on it.

Another 1911 packer here....

Mostly I carry a Colt CCO on duty and off..before I carried a Colt LW Officer's. A Commander and a trusted Government round out the carry collection. The Government is still a fave second only to the CCO for daily carry.
I prefer the Versamax for a CCW holster, though have a belt slide and a few other's that see service some.
I carry Wilson mags and, currently, 230 gr Golden Sabre's
Plus pepper spray(ASP OC Kubotan...excellant tool!) and a Camiluus Cuda!

I forgot to mention what I use to carry my guns. I have a versamax II from milt sparksthat makes the 1911 and hipower dissapear into my side. I also have a tucker heritage plus which slides on and off the belt a little faster, that I often use to carry my star bm. I always use a 1.5 inch wilderness belt when carrying ,which seems to make the biggest difference in comfort.

Just changed over to a Kimber Pro-Carry 4". It's not a "full sized" gun but I got to thinking about how I was trying to go smaller and smaller but still have the power of a 40 cal (either the .40 or the .45). So I figured that I would change tactics and try to learn how to conceal a full sized or semi-full sized pistol.

Once you get a good belt (and I thought that all that talk about belts were just a bunch of belt makers trying to troll the gun boards ;) ) the weight is easy to get used to.

one of my all time favorite carry 1911's is my Wilson Combat Lightweight SDS, but I usually end up carrying my Kimber Tactical Ultra II w/Crimson Trace laser grips (90%). Only when it is so hard to hide the .45's I carry my Kahr PM9 as my pocket pistol/IWB.

Full size Kimber Gold Match in a Galco Royal Deluxe belt holster, weather permitting. Else, I carry a SIG P229 IWB.

I love my Colt CCO

It's small, light, has good stopping power, yet easy to shoot. It's a real shame that Kimber is the only manufacturer to make a compact 1911 with a 4" barrel like this anymore.

I think Dan Wesson makes a CCO-style 1911 now. Apart from the "Where's Waldo" religious symbols and the heavy steel frame, it's kind of similar.

I carry a J-frame at work ("business casual"--isn't that an oxymoron), but I carry a full size 5" steel Colt when I'm on my own time.
