Star SS (1911 clone in .380) shoots high and jams

shoots dead to point of aim sometimes, but will often scatter a few shots high - that sounds to me like a bad engagement at lockup, or failure to lockup, but what do I do about it?

Thanks,

Sell it and buy a milspec?

The 1911 was designed to be a 5", milspec weapon.

Part of those milspecs are ".45 caliber". :D

More likely the ammo. Are you using FMJ bullets or some other kind? What kind of gun is it?

Jim

It's a Star SS, shooting hardball - started with S&B, but currently working through a case of American Eagle.
Generally the gun (like most other Stars) impresses me as very good quality, so I'm inclined to suspect a weak spring.

American Eagle....nudge,nudge,wink,wink,say no more !!

Ah... back to S&B then. The jamming has started since I began the case of American Eagle.

The scattered shots high started earlier though - I think there must be something going wrong at lockup.

Thanks,
