Hey guys, if I want to replace my mainspring housing on my 1911 Springfield gi do I need to replace my hammer strut as well? I read online that the hammer strut on the gi is shorter than the ones that other 1911's use and if you replace the mainspring housing and assembly you need to replace the hammer strut as well....is there any truth to this? Thanks for your time

Nope. Remove old MSH, check new MSH for fit (it may need some minor fitting), install new MSH, function check.
