RIA Tactical Range Raport
Possum - It was flawless when I first bought it for about 300rds of S&B 230gr ball ammo. Someone on m1911.org told me about how good Blazer Brass ran in his RIA, so I bought some on my next range trip. For some reason it FTRB about 5-6rds per mag, just about 1/8" out of battery. A little nudge on the back of the slide was all it took to close it up. As soon as I got home I ordered the GI guide rod and plug (for ease of dissassembly), and a Wolff 16lb recoil spring, I haven't had nary a problem since.
The accuracy of this thing really astonished me, I'm no sharpshooter by no means. I can shoot 2" groups at 15yds off hand all day with any ammo I cram in it. It shoots POA at that distance, and I really haven't tried to shoot any further than that with it, maybe a couple of shots here and there. She'll hit pretty darn close to where I want if I do my part.
The trigger leaves a little to be desired (not alot), it has about a 1/8" of an inch of take up, but it breaks cleanly, and does not have alot of overtravel. I don't have the equipment to measure pull, but I'd guess about 4.5-5lbs.
The fit and finish is really good especially for a 1911 in this price range. As this is my first 1911 I don't have alot to compare it to. I rented a Para, a Kimber and a Colt at a range in OKC, For the price I'd buy 2 of these and have a blast.
My appolgies to the OP for hi-jacking your thread.
