When replacing the hammer pin on Les Baer 1911, I ran into an inersting problem. Replacement part is Cylinder and Slide. I could easily insert the pin halfway into the hammer from either side, but the pin would not go all the way through. My first thought was the possibility that the hole through the hammer was not drilled straight through in one pass, perhaps leaving each side of the strut channel slightly off from the other? I just can't see a parts maker not simply drilling straight through the whole piece in one pass though. I'm not a gunsmith, so after a short while trying to reduce the pin diameter by wrapping and spinning with metalwork sandpaper, which didn't work, I put the old pin back in before I got too enthusiastic. Any gunsmiths have experience with this sort of thing?
