Ok guys so i tried to do an apples to apples comparison.

Using the following criteria: 1) Black 2)Rail 3) Full size 4) Lots of checkering (front strap/back strap) and front serrations 5)Factory Night sites.

It looks like it came down to:
Sig 1911 Extreme: MSRP: $1,213.00
Kimber Tactical Entry II: MSRP $1,490.00
Springfield Armory TRP Rail: MSRP $1867.00

Is that right?

TRP, SIG in that order. I am biased...very much an SA fan...they just work from my 1911s to my XDs to my XDMs to my XDS. Now, if they only made ARs and shottys.

TRP from that group choices.. There is a Florida FFL (Florida Gun Exchange) who sells them significantly under MSRP.

I vote TRP. Like others stated, shop around for a good price.

Frontstrap checkering is a little sharp for some.

Another one to add to your list is the Dan Wesson Specialist if you can find one.

I can't believe no ones chimed in for Kimber so I'll be the first,Love my plain stainless target it's more accurate that my Springfield Fully Loaded.

Though they don't have all of the requirements that you have listed, you might also want to look at Colt's Rail Gun and STI's Duty One 5.0 and Tactical SS 5.0.

Well i went today....

handled and Tried them all out. A Sig Scorpion, a LW operator, a S&w1911E tactical, a Kimber (something or other..it wasnt a warrior), a TRP operator and a Colt 80 Rail. There was a para and a RIA in the cabinent never even asked to see those.

The ones that really caught my attention were 1) the Scorpion, i mean that thing just felt like butter. It felt right in my hand, it was the right wt, and it was really loaded in features for the right price, was not crazy about the brown 2) The S&W seemed like a good value, it was tight, smooth, didnt rattle, nicely featured. 3) The Lighwt tactical felt best in my hand, it pointed the best for me, it was not as smooth as the scorpion but was close and then 4) The TRP operator...the "tank" of the group. It was the heaviest, and the tightest, the slide was so tight i could barely cycle it (at first), i could barely activate the slide relase on it...it was a tank and it you needed to be John Deer to work it (that being said i easily took the slide off without the "tool" that all the big shot 1911 tactical guys are always complaing about......i did it first try without much effor (and i have "baby girl hands" and work in an office...not sure what all their bitching is about.....I went back and did it again with the tool later just to compare and eh, works either way for me).

Anyway, one of these went home with me today....

And the winner is: drum rolll

Im going to make you wait, ill post pics later....

You are welcome to guess!

PS, unlike most of you im a 1911 novice, i wont be doing any customization on this thing or changing out any parts or springs etc. Ill get a couple more mags and find a light to mount to the rail and that will be about it. Maybe after i have fired a bazillion rounds through it and start wearing things out....then ill start seeing what i can/need to start replacing.

And the winner is..... TRP operator.

Ps, you do need a tool "paperclip" to hold the spring on the guide rod if you ever expect to get it back together again...lol. you tube and a paper clip and about ten minutes of experimenting and I was good to go.

Cleaned and lubes and ready for the range.

Nice pick! A buddy of mine has a TRP, and I love shooting it. He got a steal on it, but has turned down offers for more than he paid for it.

Nice choice.. you really could not have gone wrong with any you listed. VERY NICE gun there. Waiting for the range report.

Brazil, along with the slide, barrel, etc. It may get put together here in the US by skilled craftsmen, but the parts come from Brazil.

They made a good pistol, though, and they have an outstanding customer service reputation.

That TRP comes with a lifetime warranty. You can't get that with a DW. Springfield Armory is the way to go.

Is the frame on the TRP Operator made in the U.S. or Brazil?

ALL Frames and Slides are made in Brazil. The difference on a normal Springer is.. where is it assembled. The forging process that Imbel is TOP notch.

You chose wisely.

Get a Dawson Precision Tooless guide rod, or a 10-8 Performance reverse plug and GI rod and you will not have to use a paper clip ever again. I also recommend doing a Logman mod to the slide stop lever or purchasing a 10-8 slide stop to avoid idiot scratches.

Excellent choice. Springfield's customer service is absolutely top notch, and while you're prolly not thinking about having problems with your new baby, if you DO have a problem you'll be very happy you went with a Springer.

Here's an interesting side note that may cause you to enjoy your TRP Operator even more. Chris Kyle had no love for the 9mm he was issued. He actually bought an off the shelf TRP Operator just like your's at his LGS and brought it with him to Iraq. He loved it, but he eventually stopped using it after it took some shrapnel for him.
