1911 Holster Advice Needed

Gentleman: I require a hard duty holster for a standard, 5 inch barrel 1911. I have an Uncle Mike's fabric holster presently, but it feels somewhat loose, so to speak. Please keep in mind that I'm looking for a holster that will handle hard duty. The material of the holster is immaterial. Ha, I just made myself laugh.

Im looking at one that I love the looks of. Don't know how good it is. Classic old west style 100 anniversary edition. Sportsman guide has them for $40ish. Maybe someone can tell us about that one.

I would be hard to beat the Bianchi Universal Military Holster then.

It was the GI issue holster when the 1911 was still in service, and it's now the GI issue holster for the M9.

They don't get more heavy duty then that.

You don't really identify what "hard duty" would entail, whether it is horseback or ATV riding, hunting, or concealed carry, but Simply Rugged may have some options to cover your needs.

I have a GI leather holster. It is used but very good shape with plenty of "patina".Might swap for a couple of 30 rnd. Mi carbine clips.

I really like raven concealment holsters. A standard 5" 1911 is also on their quick ship list so you don't have to deal with the somewhat absurd lead times on some of their other holsters.

+1. "Hard duty" = "patrol use for LEO" is different than "physically active concealed carry" is different than "open carry for back country hunting/camping" etc etc etc. It's difficult to recommend the right solution without more info from the OP on what the specific needs are.

Also a +1 on Simply Rugged. I've used one of their holsters for off-duty concealed carry for a few years, good workmanship and they used to be just up the road from me in the Mat-Su valley in AK before they relocate to Arizona.

For carry while working patrol (1911) and also carry for an M9 while doing .mil stuff, Safariland, as already mentioned up thread, gets my vote. I did this modification to the 6004 for my recently concluded deployment and it worked really well (better than a standard drop leg) and the modifications I think cost $25 or so above the cost of the standard 6004 drop leg.
