I am getting a new slide for a custom 1911 build and I am wondering what sight cuts to order

My preference is for the plain 10-8 rear sight and a front gold/brass dot or white dot.

I didnt know tto get standard gi navak or bomar What is the difference in standard gi cuts compared to all others

Sorry - I use Novak cuts on my slides simply because that's what seems to be most commonly supported.

As far as I know (which doesn't mean that I'm correct), the Novak rear dovetail is same dimensions as the USGI dovetail with an additional flat milled onto the top of the slide (rear of the dovetail) so that the sight leaf can sit further rearward.

What sight cuts you get you should only determine AFTER you figure out what sights you want. I like BoMar rears, so all my custom guns get low-mount BoMar rear cuts. Then I put in a square notch, u notch, ghost, or diamond rear as I want.

BoMar types may not be yours, but you really need to figure this out ahead of time and not make a big mistake.

On my custom Commander I ordered Heinie sights but the smith recommended installing the Heinie sights with the Novak cut; his reasoning is that if I ever want to change the sights in the future I will have more options with the Novak cut.
