1911 Slide Styles

So I've got a 1911 where the front of the slide (right behind the barrel bushing) does not have any bevels like I am seeing on all of the other 1911's that I am seeing. Is this a different style of slide, or maybe something different that the manufacturer decided to do? Anyone know?

..and in case anyone wants to know, or it helps find an answer, the gun is an Israel Arms M-5000

I'll take it that you are referring to the forward cocking serration that are cut at a slight angle on each side of the slide in your picture.

The slide without the forward serrations is made in the original pattern

They were originally place on the slide of 1911s back in the 80s when optic sights mounted on 1911s blocked the rear serrations. They were placed there to allow retracting the slide and chambering a rounds without interfering with the mount.

Like the hooked/squared trigger guards, they are a modification that have outlived their original intended purpose, but remain for the cool factor

I think he is referring to the lack of relief cut out just under the muzzle on each side of the slide.

That is a heavy weight slide. That configuration is typically used on guns with full length dust covers...the front portion of the frame under the front of the slide. The heavy weight guns are used to stablize hold and tame recoil. Looks like the M-5000 uses just the heavy weight slide without the extended dust cover. You can try a holster made of the the Les Baer Monolith. Those guns have that type of slide with the matching dust cover. It should work for your gun.
Or you can have a holster custom made.

My guess would be he is talking about the shape of the slide over the dust cover.

Mostly just a style decision.

Thanks folks. I was indeed referring to the "relief cuts" above the "dust cover" Two terms I was unfamiliar with in reference to the gun. Thanks for the information.
