1911 thumb safety?

I used to shoot with my thumb under the safety, I experimented, and found that I could consistently knock off .01 or .02 off my split times by putting my thumb on the safety. So now that is what I use.

Experiment, find what works for you. Everybody is different. There is no one right way to do shoot.
