Im looking for a medium to compact sized 1911...i was wondering what company/model you guy like and own and how much they run ?...and if you got some pics feel free to throw them in...love seeing a good 1911 thanks

I have a Charles Daly EFS, which is the full size model. I paid a little over $500 for it, which is high for a Charles Daly. They do have compact versions, I think the compact is called the EMS.

Google "charles daly" and you'll come up with their site. They are "budget guns", and many people on here will delight in talking trash about them but they are quality pieces. I'm just starting to get familiar with the 1911 platform, and mine has been great. A few issues at the beginning, but most 1911's will require some fine tuning/tweaking at some point.

I have 'several'

Springfield and Kimber 1911's.

I used to Compete with a Springfield loaded, and I CCW a Kimber Pro Carry.

Paid $700 IIRC for the Pro Carry , when they first came out... they go for less now.
(Don't own any Kimber series II's... refuse to)

I'd also look at a 1990's Colt SS Commander... Seen a few of those I liked...
For around $550

(I prefer to buy used if possible... like buying a car. Let the other guy take the hit.)

I have some pre-series II Kimbers and they have been great guns. My Springfield Champion has been a good gun for the money. It only likes near full power loads so I have to be careful when reloading for it.

If I were to purchase a compact 1911 today it would probably be a Sig. I have not shot one but the fit and finish on the last one I handled was really nice.
I have my eye on one of these:Sig Revolution Carry
