The serial # is 152-685xx. So, I think the manufactured date is actually 1977.

How much is this gun going for around the country. I live in the Southeast...so, I am especially wondering what ya'll think it is worth.

I believe that a new GP-100 similar to this is running about $540+tax? Could this gun hold up to Buffalo Bore and Double-Tap ammunition?

It is a rock solid piece. And, look at the pictures.

I purchased one like that except a 6" barrel, in nearly perfect condition from Cabela's last month. They wanted $425, I got it for $375. It was worth every penny.

.38 SPECIAL or .357 MAG?
.357 mag will usually sell quicker and bring more money because it's more versatile. It's in good condition but the ones with fixed sights don't sell as well as the adjustable sight models.

And yes, the gun will hold up to Buffalo Bore or any other kind of ammunition you can shoot though it. The Security/Service/Speed Sixes are sweet guns, and I would hold on to it if I were you. Better trigger than the SP101 and not as clunky as a GP100. Only real drawback is that it's a bit harder to find grips and holsters.

I put a Serrvice-Six in layaway last week at Vances in Columbus. Blue, 4 inch barrel, 90 to 95%, $279.00. Well worth the money.

depending on condition
275 to 375 in my area, well worth it, strong reliable guns. I have 2, looking for a 3rd
Ammo and holsters as stated above.

My area $350 tops but good average would be $275 but that depends on condition as we all know. My Grandfather has one and swears by it. Very good old fashioned six gun.
