I know all us gun advocates support 2A rights. But, it seems to me its at the expense of 1A rights. No one ever talks about 1A rights. You can't say this or that or you would be labeled a racist or a homophobe. When did our country flip upside down where you don't have freedom of speech? Where 2% of the population dictates what the other 98% can do or say?

People forget that the 2A protects all the other amendments!

What people forget about the 1A, just because they have the right to free speech, they shouldn't open their mouths and remove all doubt!

People get on social media, do and say as they please, then get butthurt from the backlash.

It's no longer acceptable in our society to call people names and then think you can hide behind the 1st. Some racists and bigots should've stayed in the closet!

None of our rights are absolute, there are limits and always have been. And with rights come responsibilities. If you don't exercise any of your rights in a responsible manner, then you should lose those rights.

The 1st amendment allows you to have an opinion. But it doesn't mean you can force others to listen to your opinion and it shouldn't allow you to speak untruths. IMO too many of the people who have abused the 2nd amendment do so because of abuses of the 1st amendment.

I'm afraid that the internet is a big part of the problem. Too many abusing the 1st amendment.

"it shouldn't allow you to speak untruths" - the problem is who determines what is "truth", I am not willing to accept the government view 100% of the time. 1A just like 2A should be totally unlimited to the point of not doing "provable harm" to someone else.

I agree with that, I was bought up to respect other people. But that doesn't mean their rights supersede's mine. In this world, that's exactly what it means. You are right, too many people criticize others on the net when they wouldn't do it in person.

2% of the population is restricting your free speech?

You do know who the First Amendment protects you from? It ain't Twitter or Facebook.;)

There's a well-developed jurisprudence around the 1st Amendment, unlike the 2nd.
Yes like totally Fake news, where getting caught in a lie means nothing. I remember chewing on a bar of soap as a kid many times.

Think about it. Kids in school taught other lifestyles from teachers that should NOT dictate what a child should believe or not believe in. They are there to teach a curriculum not a child's lifestyle choices. Should i go on? Remember the third restroom ordeal? Ok I expect this thread to be shutdown any second, lol.

They get shutdown because people can't keep their person views and or issues out of them.

You've already touched on issues that infringe on someone's rights. How does any of this affect you negatively?

Apply all of YOUR negative views back at the 2A and maybe the light bulb will pop on.

As I said, some people remove their foot from their mouth and remove all doubt!

As a man, don't let your inner Kevin speak for you!

With the exercise of any constitutional right should come a responsibility to exercise it wisely.

Such as not yelling fire in a crowded theater.
Not shooting your neighbor for a difference of opinion.
Government actors respecting the rights of the accused, etc.

Stay safe.
