I kinda wondered about that. Also heard a fellow say that some commercial potassium nitrate was treated so as not to be suitable for making gun powder, any idea on what may have been added? I have been getting explosive grade nitrate but had some disappointing results.

I hadn't heard that but then I tend to use either Chilean saltpetre converted to KNO3 through crystallization or my uncle's machine that oxidizes ammonia.
