This is the most interesting one. A quick perusal of the data revealed you can load 1 Oz in the 900fps range. This should be ideal for those desiring ultra-low recoil 12Ga loads. You can push 1 1/8 to 1200 with select loads, but this doesn't seem to be this powder's sweet spot.

The other one is called "high gun" and appears to be Hodgdon's take on a spherical Green Dot. I didn't look extensively at load data for this one, just the marketing description.

Has anybody tried these out yet?

IMG_1842.jpeg I stared at them wondering about their pistol capabilities… that’s as far as I’ve gotta far.

Have not tried them yet. According to Hodgdon, High Gun is the same powder as Tightgroup, just with a "shotgun name". Perfect powder is a new powder. Both powders are very dense. There are several reports of successful loadings with these powders on the two shotgun sites I frequent. I will need to buy something by the end of the summer and am looking at these.

Since the High Gun actually is Tightgroup it certainly has pistol applications. Hodgdon lists no pistol data for Perfect Pattern.

I did not get that info directly from Hodgdon. There is a email from Hodgdon floating around on a shotgun reloading site.

"Here's a note from Luke Otte at Hodgdon today:

High Gun powder is Titegroup with a shotshell name, we felt it was often overlooked for shotshell use even though it is excellent for that. Perfect Pattern is however a new powder of its own."

Also I checked the load data for shotshells for Titegroup and High Gun. The data published is identical.

No, I am not suggesting using High Gun for Titegroup handgun loads if Hodgdon does not publish handgun loads for High Gun. Just buy Titegroup. But the speculation that High Gun might work for handgun loads seems to be correct.

I have used both in shot shells. Perfect Pattern makes great 1oz loads. High Gun is great for pistol and shot shell loads.

I’ll be interested when they announce pistol loads.
