200+ Grain Bullets in 1:10 Twist .30 cal

As we discuss the barrel twist and the physics around velocity and delivered RPM. The opening post mentioned a specific bullet design in a specific cartridge at a expected velocity.

So - I'm going to ask the obvious question! What barrel twist does Hornady recommend for the 212 ELD-X at the expected velocity of the 22" barrel? I would hope that rhe customer service at Hornady could provide that.

Round nose and short ogive bullets are not the equal of long ogive VLD type bullets. It’s pretty easy to add a quarter inch of length to a 30 cal bullet in this weight class, the longer of which obviously requires greater spin stabilization than the shorter.

Understood, but I doubt that automatically means every pointy .30 caliber bullet over 200 grs. is going to require a fast faster than 1-10".

The op asked specifically about a long ogive 212 ELD-x…

Pontificating about hundred year old round point bullets doesn’t aptly answer the question.

It's a discussion and no one is pontificating, so you can run along now. (Round point? Oxymoron much?)
