I've got $2k burning I hole in my pocket. I'm debating either a built 1911 (fusion) or an gun (HK45-T + suppressor) combo.

Thoughts? Or a good business case adding a third and fourth option to my list

7000-10,000 rounds of your favorite ammo.

I'm still too paranoid to advocate going through the intrusive process in order to legally own a suppressor or full-auto.

First, I'd put half of it in the bank. Second, I'd use the rest toward a really nice 1911, or a POF AR15.

Oh, or maybe a Freedom Arms Premier Grade......

Or a Ruger No.1 in .458 LOTT......

Or a Colt Python......

Or a........

Go to Gunsmoke (American Guns) and ask Rich to build you something fugly and should only cost $1,000.00. :D

second on the ammo. or if you want a toy for sure, 1k in ammo, 1k new toy. i bought about $4000 of ammo about 5 years ago, very good hobby investment. gold would have been better but not so much for a hobby

I'd like a VZ58.

Unless you're buying guns for the rest of us i think you'll be happier with your purchase if you decide for yourself without external input. At least narrow it down to a few options and then ask specific details on those..

with a chunk of happy money id do an inventory first. look at everything gun/hobby related; guns-grips, sights, conversion bbls & slides, holsters. glass-scopes and binoculars and spotting, laser ( not for me but...) red-dots. any re-loading upgrades?

2K$ can buy a lot of accessories and likely still have enough leftover for an inexpensive used gun or 2.

Spend $1k on the gun $500 on ammo and $500 on defense classes using your gun.

pay off the $2000 I THOUGHT I had as a young college grad with plastic in his pocket

I didn't know you could get a Fusion for 2k.

There was a time when I spent time on the 1911 forumns. I'd wander up into the Fusion section now and again. Seemed like a really decent crowd.

If I had 2k burning a hole in my pocket, maybe I'd revisit something I ran across a few weeks ago. I think it was called a CZ 75b Shadow T duotone, or something like that. It looked pretty sharp. I think it may have been a 9 mil, which may or may not interest me. It looked like an interesting way to find out what all this CZ buzz is about, though.

Forget about the suppressor, and don't listen to those who suggest you should save your money.

.

I went to a CATO event today and was reminded about how they (Bob Levy) bankrolled the entire Heller/Parker case. I am seriously considering stroking them a big check.

If I had $2k I had to get rid of, I'd donate half to CATO and the other half to the Institute for Justice/NRA.

Personally I'd save another 1K and look for a subgun. you can get several different ones for right around 3K

Impact also has suppressor pistol combos. Two different FN ones, one has a reflex sight too. Check them out.

Reloading gear. 2 grand will set you up to roll your own and have some left over for supplies. Nothing like ammo you build yourself, not even counting the bucks you will save from then on out.

If it was my 2k my short list would be....
1) MSAR STG 556 Gebirgsjaeger Package in OD Green
2) Springfield Armory M1A
3) Franchi SPAS 12 (I know, I know...what can I say I've always wanted one)

Let's see: ammo, proper holsters, gun belts and accessories, molle vest plate carrier and pouches, kevlar helmet, spare tactical tunic, trousers and boots, MREs, water, canned goods, TP, bleach.

I would also consider possible security upgrades, including motion sensitive lighting for the perimeter and new deadbolts. A proper safe if you do not have one.

First, to all of you who said buy $2000 in ammo. Why not reload or buy the equipment to reload? Second, this was not an original question presented by the OP. I love to spend other peoples' money. I would purchase the 1911.
