Michael Steele, who almost won the senate seat in Maryland.

Look at this combination of endorsements.

I have yet to see a Republican name mentioned that I could vote for. Hopefully that person is out there, and just not yet identified.

We don't need the Democrats in charge of the House, Senate, and Presidency simultaneously any more than we needed the Republicans in complete control.

I don't know, LG, but considering the mood of the American people concerning our immigration problems and Tancredo's hard line stand on the subject, I would think so.

I agree, LG, but I consider immigration and the inherant security issues associated with it probably the biggest problem our country faces at this point, although I too would like to know where he stands on other issues.

It will depend on the amount of money a candidate can expect to raise. No doubt some are already intimidated by Hillary's war chest. As should be expected, I don't see the GOP having any focus (deciding who to promote) until well into the primaries. I do know that Senators are notoriously unsuccessful.

I think using McCain would be a shame, because he doesn't carry a real Republican message. Neither do a number of the other prospects. A moderate is more likely to be successful, but give me a break here with some of these folks.

Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter. I am darned tired of all these "dynasty" candidates decided on by the party establishment long before the primary process. For heaven's sake, no more Bush's and Doles.

Whoever the Republicans pick, it better not be a neo-con. I would love to see an old-school Goldwater conservative run. The Republican Party needs to chuck the Religious Right. They may form a solid 10% chunk of the base, but they are poisoning the well big-time when it comes to a lot of other voters. Goldwater Republicans are about as close to the Libertarian view of the world as we are going to get in the present political climate.

was'nt fred thompson mccains campaign manager ?

No, he was Howard Bakers campaign manager.

id like to see Trent Lott or Jeb Bush, but lott is "racially insensitive", and Bush is well a Bush

Michael Steele, who almost won the senate seat in Maryland.

i dont think people would think that he has enough experience to run for president, however i think he would make an excellent running mate.

i think Newt Gingrich and Michael Steele would make a great ticket

dont wanna see frist and defenetly dont want mccain

Fred Dalton Thompson would make an interesting candidate... but didn't he more or less retire from public office when his daughter died?

That was doubly tragic - he lost a loved one, and we lost a decent politician. :(
