I posed the question to GOA whether there were any "pro-gun" candidates for President. The following is their reply:

Good afternoon and thank you for the note.

The long and short of it is: No. We do not see any at this time.

The leaders are antigun and the pro gun people are not the leaders.
There are some who are talked about as being "pro gun" but we have not
surveyed them to see if it is more than skin deep.

I regret that I cannot be of better service to you on this question at
this time.

This is not to say there aren't any or won't be any later, be we should remain cautious about who we get too excited about. I do understand that Tancredo's high rating is questionable and deserves a closer look. We would know quite a lot, if an AWB was discussed in committee and surely if a bill came to the floor. We would also know more about the Governors in play based upon activity at the State legislation level. In a nutshell, it is too early to tell, except that the current so called front runners are not pro-gun.

This has everything to do with whether a third party candidate suddenly becomes attractive, not as a serious contender but as a statement from gun owners. The real pro-gun politics will likely remain in the Congress and the primaries for those seats up for reelection.
