.204 ruger

I have a .204 ruger in a TC bolt action rifle as a result of a trade. Wasn't after a .204 but have one now.

What role does a .204 fill? it seems to be a specialized round.

Any thoughts on a scope for this rifle?

It is mainly a varmint shooting cartridge, with emphasis on prairie dogs. A variable 6X-20X scope will fill the bill nicely.

Colony varmints at midrange, coyotes at short (0-400ish). The little bullets get blown around a lot, they fly like a wiffle ball, fast then burn out pretty quick since they don’t have great BC’s. My current 204 is a 22” AR; I had a couple bolt guns in 204 before that, but in a heavy stickshift I tend to want a little more bullet weight downrange. In an AR, it’s a lot of fun over Pdog towns.

A 6-24x is right at home over a 204R.
